Notoriety
What are notes, where did they come from, who created them? We play them, read them, interpret them and hopefully wonderful sounds appear. Sometimes, like in this piece, there are holes in the composition, like cobwebs in our minds and from this place, new music, improvisations on the original notes can come forth….some good, some not so good, yet in all cases creativity was present and accounted for.
What one sees in this piece looking close are peacock tail ’hairs’ laced throughout all the carvings denoting the graceful beauty of the notes that are here, yet hard to read. The molding is very rare from an 1840’s square grand piano accentuated on the right by an old clock chime mechanism….helping to ring in the notorious cobwebbed notes.
